Day 114 - Work, work, work / by Edward Crim

Today is Wednesday and tomorrow my Thursday night photography shoot is themed after “Alice in Wonderland”, so I was in the studios setting up four shooting bays for our photographers and models to use tomorrow. We have the Mad Hatter’s tea party, a combination of croquette with flamingos and hedgehogs and painting the roses red, the falling down the rabbit hole scene, and the caterpillar smoking a hookah on the mushroom set, the last of these complete with dry ice and a smoke machine.

But setting up all of these and chasing around town for the last minute things that we need has consumed the day, and darkness is upon the city of the French king and America’s premier urban park, leaving me with very little time to achieve today’s goals of interesting photos there. So I head for Art Hill and walk the tree lined path toward the Apotheosis of Saint Louis seated atop his war horse Pierre. The streets were wet, a fine mist was blowing all around and I pretty much had the park to myself. Just me and the rangers, that is. I waved to them every time they passed by.
